{"id":4,"date":"2019-03-02T09:36:45","date_gmt":"2019-03-02T09:36:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.moleseyhistorysociety.org\/mlhs\/?page_id=4"},"modified":"2026-03-30T07:36:15","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T07:36:15","slug":"welcome","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.moleseyhistorysociety.org\/mlhs\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Welcome to Molesey Local History Society<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>East and West Molesey lie south of the River Thames close to Hampton Court Palace in  North East Surrey (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moleseyhistorysociety.org\/mlhs\/map\/\">map<\/a>).&nbsp;The Mole and Ember rivers flow through Molesey before joining the Thames. All three rivers have played an important part in shaping the area&#8217;s rich history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main aim of the Society is to awaken and foster an interest in the history of Molesey. We hold a wide variety of talks and events in and around Molesey, including Hampton Court Palace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We conduct our own research and try to hold at least one meeting a year based on work carried out by members. This year we are looking into the works and life of Edward Potterton. A presentation of our findings will be made in our November meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regular newsletters keep our members informed of all our forthcoming events as well as giving other interesting information about our local history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We would be delighted to hear from anyone with an interest in the history of Molesey.
